FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions on Trademark Registration
Everything you need to know before, during and after your engagement.
How long does trademark registration take?
Filing takes days, and you can use the ™ symbol immediately. Full registration typically takes 8–18 months depending on objections and oppositions; the ® symbol may be used once registered.
What are the government fees?
Per class: ₹4,500 for individuals, proprietors and MSMEs, and ₹9,000 for other entities, in addition to professional fees.
What if my trademark gets objected?
An examination-report objection is common and answerable — a reasoned reply citing case law and evidence is filed within 30 days. Most well-drafted replies proceed to advertisement.
Which class should I file in?
Goods and services are split across 45 classes. We recommend classes based on what you actually sell today plus a realistic expansion view — filing in wrong or excessive classes wastes fees.
Can I trademark a name that already exists?
Identical or deceptively similar marks in the same class are likely to be objected or opposed. The pre-filing search is exactly to measure this risk before you spend.
How long is a trademark valid?
Ten years from the filing date, renewable every ten years indefinitely. We track and remind you before renewal falls due.
